Valley Planner
About Valley Planner
Valley Planner is a relaxed tile-placement strategy game. Over 25 turns you fill a small valley with cottages, fields, wells, markets and forests. Every tile scores by what sits next to it, so each choice shapes the turns that follow.
How to play
- Each turn you get two tiles to choose from. Tap one to select it.
- Tap an empty cell to place the selected tile. The numbers show the points each cell would add right now.
- Neighbours are the cells directly above, below, left and right.
- The game ends when all 25 cells are full. Try to beat your best score.
How each tile scores
A Cottage scores 1 point, plus 2 for each neighbouring Market. A Field scores 1 point, plus 2 for each neighbouring Well. A Well scores nothing itself. A Market scores 1 point for each different tile type next to it, up to four. Each Forest tile scores the size of its connected woodland, up to 5 per tile.
The numbers are only today
The number on each empty cell shows what a tile adds right now, and that is not the same as the best long-term spot. A Well shows little on an empty board, yet it can earn 8 points if four Fields end up around it. Leave room around the tiles you want to build on later.
Forests pay off late
A forest of five connected tiles scores 25 points, because every tile reaches the cap of 5. That makes a compact woodland one of the strongest plans in the game. Tiles beyond the fifth still score 5 each, so a large forest stays valuable. A forest split into two small groups scores far less, so keep your trees together.
Two clusters work better than five
Centre a Market among Cottages for steady points, and centre a Well among Fields. Each Market or Well in the middle of the board touches four tiles, against just two in a corner. Corners suit tiles that need few neighbours, such as the end of a forest.
Choosing between two offers
You always see two different tiles, and the other one is lost when you place. If neither fits your plan, take the one that hurts it least. There is no timer, so test the numbers by switching between the two offers before you commit. Playing thoughtfully scores far more than placing tiles at random.
